Clinical Application
Provides stable midline and lateral thoracic exposure for procedures that require separation of the sternum and ribs. Commonly used during median sternotomy, cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery and selected trauma cases where controlled, sustained retraction of the chest wall is required to optimize visualization and instrument access.
Design & Configuration
A two-arm, self-retaining design with an adjustable central spreading mechanism allows incremental control of intercostal or sternal separation. The 19x19x200 mm blade profile and reach balance surface contact and depth of exposure to distribute retraction force over a moderate area while enabling access into the thoracic cavity. The adjustable mechanism locks the desired spread to maintain a stable field and free surgical hands for concurrent tasks.
