Clinical Application
Designed to provide controlled separation of the ribs for exposure of the pleural space, mediastinum and lungs during open thoracotomy, exploratory thoracic procedures, and trauma cases requiring chest entry. The paired blades allow the operating surgeon to establish and maintain an operative field while minimizing soft-tissue interference and optimizing access for dissection, stapling, suturing and implant placement.
Design & Configuration
These blades are produced to the Finochietto pattern so they mount to standard Finochietto-style retractor frames. The paired configuration permits symmetrical retraction and even distribution of lateral forces across the ribs. The 50 x 80 mm sizing offers options for engaging different intercostal spaces and rib thicknesses, helping the surgeon select blade geometry appropriate to patient anatomy and the required working corridor.
