Clinical Application
Provides controlled, self-retaining retraction of the ribs and chest wall during thoracic procedures. Commonly used for posterolateral and anterolateral thoracotomy, pulmonary resections, pleural procedures and other open-chest surgeries where sustained, symmetric separation of the ribs is required to expose the operative field.
Design & Configuration
The classic Finochietto geometry uses opposing curved blades to cradle the ribs and distribute pressure across the rib surface while a ratchet-driven mechanism secures and incrementally advances the spread. The 52 x 62 mm blade faces give a substantial contact area for wide exposure while the compact overall length facilitates use in standard thoracic incisions. The self-retaining ratchet permits fine control of spread distance and sustained retraction without continuous manual force.
