Clinical Application
This dilator is designed for use during open mitral valve procedures to perform controlled dilation of stenotic mitral orifices and to assess valve competency after commissurotomy or leaflet repair. It is intended for intraoperative use by cardiac surgeons to incrementally enlarge the valve orifice, facilitate leaflet separation, and help determine sizing and functional adequacy prior to valve replacement or definitive repair.
Design & Configuration
The instrument features a graduated, tapered profile spanning 6–20 mm diameters to allow stepwise, controlled dilation without changing instruments. The tapered geometry enables a gradual increase in radial dimension so the surgeon can apply incremental force and assess tissue response and valve coaptation at each diameter. A slim shaft and smoothly contoured distal tip provide access through the left atrium and across the valve orifice while minimizing snagging on leaflet tissue during manipulation.
Instrument Specifications

Material & Construction
Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel with precision-ground surfaces for smooth insertion and reliable performance. The construction supports repeated sterilization and reuse in high-acuity cardiac operating environments. Surface finish and tolerances facilitate atraumatic handling of valve leaflets while providing durable, long-term service.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
