Clinical Application
This clamp is intended to provide temporary, reliable occlusion of the aorta and other large-caliber vessels during cardiac, vascular and thoracoabdominal procedures. It is used for proximal control during coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), aortic repair, aneurysm exposure and other operative steps where a secure, bloodless field and atraumatic handling of the vessel are required. The multi-purpose geometry supports use in variable anatomic approaches and retractor configurations.
Design & Configuration
The instrument features a multi-purpose Cooley pattern geometry that balances reach, jaw surface area and tactile control. A ratchet locking mechanism enables progressively secure closure and hands-free maintenance of occlusion. Broad occluding jaws distribute compressive force over a larger area of the vessel wall to reduce focal pressure and help minimize intimal injury while producing effective hemostasis. The overall profile is intended to facilitate placement in confined mediastinal and retroperitoneal working spaces where controlled aortic occlusion is needed.
