Clinical Application
Designed for atraumatic handling of delicate cardiac and vascular tissues, this clamp is used to grasp, retract, and stabilize the auricle (atrial appendage) and other fine soft tissues during cardiac, thoracic, and selected vascular procedures. Its atraumatic jaw geometry reduces crushing injury to endocardial and vascular tissue, making it suitable for temporary control during suturing, excision of an appendage, or precise tissue manipulation in confined operative fields.
Design & Configuration
The instrument's DeBakey-style longitudinally ridged jaws distribute pressure over a larger surface area to minimize tissue trauma while maintaining a secure grip. The 24 cm overall length provides extended reach into the mediastinum and deeper surgical sites without compromising hand control. A ring-handle with ratchet lock permits adjustable tension and sustained closure, so the surgeon can maintain exposure or control a structure hands-free while performing adjacent tasks.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: atraumatic clamp for auricle/atrial appendage and delicate tissue handling
- Pattern: DeBakey–Harken atraumatic jaws
- Configuration: ring handles with ratchet
- Overall length: 24 cm
