Clinical Application
Designed for controlled exposure and protection of nerve roots and the thecal sac during posterior spinal procedures. The retractor is used to create and maintain a small working corridor in lumbar microdiscectomy, foraminal and recess decompression, and limited laminectomy procedures where precise, atraumatic retraction of neural elements is required. Its geometry facilitates one-handed stabilization while the surgeon works with instruments or operating microscope.
Design & Configuration
The 45° angulation of the blade positions the flat, blunt tip away from the surgical field, allowing lateral displacement of neural tissue without excessive upward force. A 19 cm shaft provides sufficient reach from the wound edge to the operative site while preserving tactile control. The narrow, flat profile spreads contact pressure over a greater surface area to minimize focal compression on delicate nerve tissue, and the angled orientation improves visibility and instrument access in confined posterior approaches.
