Clinical Application
This lancet-point Kirschner wire is intended for percutaneous skeletal fixation and temporary stabilization of fractures and osteotomies. At 1.5 x 100 mm, the diameter and length balance bending stiffness with minimal cortical disruption, making it appropriate for fixation of small- to medium-sized bones, pinning in hand and wrist procedures, phalangeal and metacarpal fractures, and as part of external fixation constructs or provisional alignment during open reduction.
Design & Configuration
The straight, smooth-pin configuration provides predictable axial stiffness while minimizing soft-tissue drag during insertion and removal. The lancet point tip features a sharpened bevel profile designed to facilitate entry through cortical bone with reduced insertion torque and improved initial purchase. The 100 mm length offers working room for crossing cortices and external fixation assemblies and can be cut or bent as required for intraoperative contouring.
