Clinical Application
Designed for percutaneous skeletal fixation and temporary pinning, this 1.5 x 120 mm Kirschner wire is used to reduce and stabilize small- to medium-sized fractures, maintain provisional alignment during definitive fixation, and as a guide/pin for external fixation or fracture fragment control. Common applications include hand and wrist, forearm, foot and ankle, distal radius, metacarpal and metatarsal pinning, and other general orthopedic and trauma procedures where a thin, rigid fixation pin is required.
Design & Configuration
The trocar point tip provides a sharp, cutting profile that facilitates percutaneous entry through skin and cortical bone with controlled penetration and reduced need for pilot drilling in many indications. The straight, 120 mm length offers sufficient reach for most extremity procedures while maintaining rigidity at the 1.5 mm diameter. The round end profile provides a smooth proximal surface for manual handling and seating in insertion instruments or drivers, and minimizes soft-tissue snagging during placement and removal.
Instrument Specifications
- Diameter x length: 1.5 mm x 120 mm
- Tip: Trocar point (cutting tip) for percutaneous entry
- End style: Round proximal end
- Configuration: Straight fixation pin for skeletal stabilization and pinning
Material & Construction
Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel to provide the necessary strength, corrosion resistance, and a smooth finish for insertion and atraumatic removal. The smooth surface reduces soft-tissue drag and facilitates cleaning and sterilization according to facility protocols.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
