Clinical Application
Designed for percutaneous bone fixation and provisional skeletal stabilization, this 1.8 x 60 mm K-wire is suitable for small-bone and digital fixation as well as select pediatric and hand/foot applications. It is used to maintain reduction during open or closed procedures, to secure fracture fragments temporarily during plate or screw fixation, and as pin elements in external fixation constructs and traction assemblies where a 1.8 mm diameter pin is indicated.
Design & Configuration
The trocar point geometry provides a sharply honed cutting tip that facilitates rapid cortical entry with precise control, reducing the tendency to skid on hard surfaces. The straight 60 mm working length offers adequate purchase for many small-bone and peri-articular applications while allowing controlled depth placement. The round end profile aids in handling and can simplify bending or cutting the proximal portion for anchoring and removal workflows in the operative field.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Kirschner wire (K-wire)
- Point style: Trocar point
- Diameter x length: 1.8 x 60 mm
- Configuration: Straight shaft with round proximal end
- Primary uses: Percutaneous fixation, provisional stabilization, external fixation pin element
Material & Construction
Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel with a ground trocar tip to ensure consistent cutting performance and tip integrity. The monolithic shaft construction provides reliable axial strength and resistance to bending under typical fixation loads for the indicated diameter.
Quality & Compliance
