Clinical Application
Used for cerclage and tension-band fixation where a low-profile, pliable wire is needed to approximate bone fragments. Common applications include patella and olecranon tension-band constructs, small fragment cerclage in hand and wrist procedures, temporary fragment control during fixation, and as an adjunct to plate constructs where circumferential or figure-of-eight wiring is indicated. The 0.4 mm diameter is appropriate for small to medium bones and situations requiring fine, easily contoured fixation.
Design & Configuration
The soft configuration indicates annealed, low-temper wire that is more malleable than higher-temper (hard) wire. Increased pliability allows the surgeon to contour the wire closely to bone surfaces, perform manual twisting and tensioning with standard wire-twisting instruments, and reduce the risk of cutting into bone when forming tension-band constructs. Supplied on a 10 m spool to support multiple procedures or repeated cerclage applications in a single case.
Instrument Specifications
- Diameter: 0.4 mm
- Length: 10 m spool
- Temper: soft (annealed) configuration for increased pliability
- Intended uses: cerclage wiring, tension-band fixation, fragment stabilization
Material & Construction
Constructed from stainless steel in a soft (annealed) temper to provide the flexibility required for manual shaping and twisting. The soft temper reduces spring-back and facilitates secure knotting or twisting when used with standard cerclage techniques and wire-cutting/tensioning instruments.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
