Clinical Application

Medial blades for Caspar retractors are used to maintain midline exposure of the anterior cervical spine during procedures such as anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), corpectomy, and other anterior cervical approaches. Placed on the medial side of the retractor frame, this blade provides broad, atraumatic retraction of midline soft tissues and the anterior surfaces of the vertebral bodies to preserve a stable, unobstructed operative field for decompression, graft placement, and instrumentation.

Design & Configuration

The 65x23 mm medial profile gives a balance of surface area and low profile to distribute retraction force while minimizing focal pressure on soft tissue. As a medial blade, it is shaped and oriented to seat at the midline and work in concert with lateral blades and the Caspar distraction/retraction frame to maintain consistent exposure. Titanium construction reduces instrument weight and improves handling when mounted on the retractor arms, which can decrease surgeon fatigue during prolonged exposure.

Instrument Specifications

  • Instrument type: Medial blade for Caspar retractor
  • Pattern/model: Caspar retractor blade, medial
  • Configuration: Medial-mounted retractor blade compatible with Caspar systems
  • Size: 65x23 mm
  • Typical use: Anterior cervical spine exposure and soft-tissue retraction
  • Material: Titanium (TiT)
  • Reusable: Designed for repeated sterilization and reuse

Material & Construction

Constructed from titanium (TiT) to provide a lightweight, corrosion-resistant instrument suitable for repeated use. Titanium reduces overall instrument weight compared with heavier metals, facilitating precise placement on retractor arms. The blade is finished for atraumatic tissue contact and to withstand standard sterilization and reprocessing protocols.

Quality & Compliance

Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.

Brand Comparison

Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
