Clinical Application
This double-ended Roux retractor is intended for controlled retraction of superficial soft tissues and wound edges during open procedures. It is commonly used to maintain exposure in small to medium cavities, protect adjacent tissue while placing sutures or performing sharp dissection, and provide atraumatic retraction in general, plastic, and minor surgical cases where a compact, handheld instrument is preferred.
Design & Configuration
The double-ended configuration provides two working blades on a single shaft, allowing the assistant or surgeon to reverse orientation quickly without exchanging instruments. At 14 cm overall length the geometry is well suited to shallow to moderate-depth exposure: long enough to reach into small cavities while short enough to provide tactile control. The broad, slightly concave Roux-style blades distribute pressure over a wider surface area to reduce focal tissue compression and help protect delicate structures during retraction.
