Clinical Application

Classic curved Rochester–Pean hemostatic forceps are used to occlude and control medium-to-large blood vessels and to grasp or compress tissue bundles during open surgical procedures. Their broad, transverse-serrated jaws distribute clamping pressure over a larger surface, making them well suited for general surgery, abdominal and thoracic procedures, trauma control, and many gynecologic and vascular applications where reliable, atraumatic hemostasis is required.

Design & Configuration

The curved shaft directs the jaws into deep or confined operative fields and allows the tips to approach vessels tangentially, improving visibility and access around structures. The Pean-style transverse serrations provide secure, non-slip grip across broader tissue, reducing the risk of slippage when clamping larger-caliber vessels or tissue bundles. A ratcheted locking mechanism holds consistent clamping pressure without continuous manual force, and a robust box-lock joint provides durable articulation through repeated reprocessing cycles.
