Clinical Application
Rochester-Pean hemostatic forceps are designed to provide secure clamping of larger vessels and robust tissue pedicles. The instrument is commonly used to obtain definitive hemostasis during general, trauma, abdominal, and obstetric/gynecologic procedures, and for occluding tissue bundles prior to ligation or transection. The curved geometry facilitates work around bulk tissue and in deeper operative fields where straight clamps may be awkward to position.
Design & Configuration
The curved Pean configuration places the fully serrated jaws at an angle that improves visibility and access when approaching vessels or pedicles from the side or within a cavity. The transverse serrations along the jaw give broad, even gripping surfaces that help prevent slippage of tissue under traction. Ring handles with a ratcheted locking mechanism allow secure, incremental closure and reliable maintenance of clamp pressure without continuous hand force, enabling precise control during suture placement or ligation.
