The instrument uses a two-piece guarded configuration: an outer sleeve with multiple lateral perforations and a coaxial removable inner cannula. The wide-bore lumen delivers high flow for rapid suctioning, while the perforated guard distributes intake across several openings to reduce the risk of focal tissue aspiration. The removable inner tube permits quick clearance of particulate or viscous debris without removing the entire instrument from the field, improving OR efficiency.
