Clinical Application
This instrument provides a sealed transcutaneous access port for minimally invasive procedures. The cannula establishes a working channel for the passage of laparoscopy instruments, scopes, or sutures while the integrated stop cock enables controlled insufflation, aspiration, or the introduction/removal of fluids without loss of pneumoperitoneum. The 4.5 mm diameter is intended for small-caliber instruments and is commonly used in diagnostic laparoscopy, pediatric procedures, or "mini" laparoscopic applications where smaller ports reduce tissue trauma.
Design & Configuration
The standard trocar-and-cannula configuration separates the obturator (trocar) used for entry from the hollow cannula left in place as the working port. The integrated stop cock valve on the cannula facilitates controlled gas or fluid management directly at the port, minimizing the need for separate connectors or clamps and reducing procedural steps. Cannula geometry and a smooth internal lumen support repeated instrument exchanges while maintaining a seal to preserve insufflation.
