Clinical Application
Designed for controlled percutaneous access to the tunica vaginalis, this trocar and cannula system is used to aspirate hydrocele fluid and establish a lumen for drainage or instillation during scrotal procedures. The device is suitable for use in outpatient clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, and operating rooms where minimally invasive evacuation of scrotal fluid is indicated. Its small-caliber configuration helps minimize tissue trauma and facilitates rapid decompression under local or regional anesthesia.
Design & Configuration
The instrument uses a removable obturator (trocar) that engages a hollow cannula. The obturator provides a controlled penetrating tip to access the fluid collection, and the cannula maintains a secure lumen for aspiration or connection to a suction/syringe. A low-profile, small-caliber (8Fg) configuration reduces insertion trauma and is practical for delicate scrotal tissues and pediatric patients. The simple trocar/cannula geometry allows rapid insertion and removal of the obturator while preserving access for fluid evacuation or subsequent interventions.
