Clinical Application
Designed for acquisition and retrieval of mucosal biopsy specimens from the rectum and distal sigmoid colon, this long-shaft Yeoman pattern forceps is used during anoscopy and flexible or rigid sigmoidoscopy. The instrument is intended to provide controlled grasping and retention of biopsy tissue for diagnostic pathology, including evaluation of inflammatory disease, mucosal lesions, and suspected malignancy.
Design & Configuration
The 28 cm shaft length provides reach through an anoscope or rigid sigmoidoscope to access rectal lesions while maintaining ergonomic control at the proximal handle. The Fig.2 jaw geometry is arranged to secure small tissue samples and help retain specimens during withdrawal, reducing specimen loss or fragmentation. The long, narrow profile facilitates visualization and instrument passage in confined transanal working channels.
